IF - moon

I have been wanting to do an illo with a yoga theme for awhile and this week's IF word "moon" was the perfect opportunity. I knew there had to be a yoga pose with the word moon in it and sure enough, a quick Google search turned up 'half moon pose'. I love the images found in yoga books and magazines...clean lines, organic shapes and earthy colors. Now, if I could just get a job illustrating in one of them...

FINALLY!

I FINALLY upgraded my old clunky HUGE ugly outdated dinosaur of a computer monitor to this beautiful SLEEK ultra-clear bright flat screen lcd monitor. I'm soooooo happy! I have been waiting for my old one to DIE and it finally started to...the screen would go pink, then come back on again. I knew it was on it's last legs, so off to Best Buy yesterday to get a new one. It's amazing how little room this one takes up compared to the old one. The wonders of technology!

IF - poem

Hee-hee. I couldn't resist doing this for IF this week with the theme word - poem. Do ya get it? I hope so, my daughter didn't, but she's 13. Edgar Alan POE, thinking mmmmm? See, get it? Ha ha! I'm guessing he's thinking - "Mmmmm...What should my next poem be about...I know, a Raven!"

time to relax

I had a few days to relax on beautiful Hood Canal at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa. The weather wasn't the best (why does this always seem to happen!) it was raining and cloudy both days, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. I even took a nap one day...how often do I have the time to do that! We ate good food, played games, read books, watched movies and I had a wonderful massage. The resort is white fluffy robe nice, the kind of place where you wish you could move in.
It's back to reality now with lots on my to do list!

IF - discovery

The theme of the week on Illustration Friday is Discovery. I'm totally swamped with greeting card orders and I have a little trip planned mid week, so I'm going to post an older image I did for Starbucks a few years ago. This was an image on the front of greeting cards I designed for some executives there to send out to their employees on their anniversaries, celebrating how long they have been with the company. Nice gesture, huh? They do this every year! Anyway, the inside of this card reads - Thanks for going on the journey with us. I did this piece the old fashioned way with maps, decorative papers, stickers, stamps and paint. The little coffee cups are actually a stamp I designed for A Muse.

IF - geeky

I did this illo for IF based on the 1960's board game - Barbie, Queen of the Prom. I used to play this game with my sister and her friends and I would ALWAYS get stuck with Poindexter, the supposed 'Geek' of the game. Ken was the hottie back then, but looking at him (and Tom and Bob) today, they are ALL GEEKS! I was originally going to just do something with my man, Poindexter (is that a geeky name or what!), but the other 3 were just too hard to resist. Barbie, of course, always looks fabulous! I decided to call it Beauty and the Geeks, to bring these classic icons into today's world. I Love that show! Can't wait for it to come on again.

IF - twist

I'm cheating a little and posting an older image for this week. I just got back from a trip to the Midwest and don't have time to do an illo just for the IF theme this week. The word is Twist, so I thought this design from my holiday cards would fit nicely. The steam is pretty twisted! I call this one Tree of steam.
We had a nice visit, but it's always nice to come home. The weather in Seattle is beautiful today! Happy 4th of July, everyone!
